Guppies take on Illovo River

The event was a joint effort between the hosts, Toti Canoe Club and Midland Paddling School, and it saw a total of 32 guppies take on the 5km course.

THE fifth race of the KZN Guppy League took place on May 24 at Lower Illovo on the Illovo River.

The event was a joint effort between the hosts, Toti Canoe Club and Midland Paddling School, and it saw a total of 32 guppies take on the 5km course. Toti Canoe Club’s Roxane Holmes said some of the children were racing for the first time.

The Midland Paddling School runs the KZN Guppy League, and three races are left in the calendar.
Torsten McGregor came first overall, and Samkelo Phili was second overall. Payton Taylor came third overall.

The next meet will be the Tugela 20s, a two-day race hosted at Winterton on August 8 and 9.
