Amanzimtoti parkrun co-director John Niewoudt said that worldwide there are almost 8000 registered parkrunners and of those, around 4500 have run 500 in total. In addition, Swart volunteered to assist on the sidelines 260 times.

At 68-years-old, Swart has remarkably finished in first place 13 times. Outside of parkrunning, he received his KZN colours for cross country in Richards Bay.

“He still holds the 19-year-old parkrun record. In the 60-64 age category, Swart holds the record in Winterton for the last seven years and also holds the record in the 65-69 age category at the Treviso parkrun in Italy for the last three years,” said Niewoudt.
