Watch: Illegal dumping near Amanzimtoti Fire Station

Illegal rubbish dumping at Blaze Way opposite the Amanzimtoti Fire Station is threatening the nearby stream.

A WARD 93 resident in Amanzimtoti, Judith Ludwig, is doing all she can to fight illegal dumping that has transformed Blaze Way opposite the Amanzimtoti Fire Station into a ghastly sight.

The small stream that lies next to the fire station is threatened by piles of household waste that is dumped by unscrupulous residents.

“The waste ends up at the bird park and at the beaches. We aim to clean up inland first before it has a chance to end up at the beach,” said Ludwig.

She questioned why some residents fail to take out their waste on allocated days instead of discarding it improperly.

“If you missed the truck, you have an option of keeping your waste until the next allocated day. You don’t have to throw it in the bushes,” she said.
