A little girl with a heart as big as her dreams
A six-year-old girl from Amanzimtoti has been named a nominee for the South African Children and Youth Awards.
ZHAYLI de Vaal, a vibrant six-year-old girl with a heart as big as her dreams, is a nominee for the South African Children and Youth Awards.
Her mother, Rialda, said it is a platform to recognise exceptional children and award them at a red carpet event at the Emperors Palace in Johannesburg next year.

“To get into the awards, you have to be nominated and go through the process of being chosen to be an ambassador,” she said.
The Kuswag Kleuter Akademie (preschool) learner has a passion for modelling, charity work, and singing.
“She’s being honoured for her modelling, orating, singing and innovative creations. She’s also actively doing charity work for the local community. Zhayli is the mini co-founder of The Miss Baby to Queen Pageants and recently started her own cosmetic line,” said Rialda.
Through her cosmetic brand, she empowers little girls like herself, offering them the chance to start their own cosmetic brands and make their dreams come true.

Her mother said, “Zhayli’s kindness knows no bounds as she not only pursues her passions but also extends a helping hand to others. Her creativity, compassion and determination make her a true role model for children everywhere.”
Zhayli has been doing photo competitions since the age of two and started reciting poems at the age of four. “We, as parents, always encourage her to do her best, but we also know she’s still just a little girl who likes to play with her dolls,” said Rialda.
There is no voting line for the South African Children and Youth Awards, and Zhayli will represent herself in June 2024.
