Stolen goods recovered at Booysens

Scrap yards and second-hand dealers who deal in stolen property should be careful.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Booysens officers, Community Patrolling officers and other participants inspected second-hand dealers and scrap yards in the Booysens Policing Area and found tons of stolen property on Wednesday July 23 and Friday July 25.

The officers found stolen manhole and railway line equipment as well as copper that were recovered at a few of the inspected premises.

“This office would like to warn the owners of the said businesses that it is an offence to buy stolen property, and these planned operations will be an on-going operation in the Booysens Area.

“The management of the station would like to thank all role players who assisted with the operation for their hard work and dedication in the fight to beat crime,” said Booysens Warrant and Communications officer, Lorraine van Emmerik.

The police will continue this operation to ascertain that such dealers get the message and refrain from such an activity as it will cost them money, when the property they bought with their money are confiscated and they are charged.
