GLENVISTA – According to the boy’s father, Anthony Naude, Jeremy was walking towards Glenvista Shopping Centre along Biggarsberg Road, when the incident took place.
“As he approached Spitz Road, a tall thin man, possibly around 50, walked over to talk him and said his name was Harald. He started to ask Jeremy about a possible donation of clothes for a charity. As Jeremy was listening, another man grabbed him from behind and held his arms back. They took two cell phones out of his pockets and then ran off. Harald was smoking and was wearing blue dirty jeans and a red striped shirt. The second man was average height and chubby, probably in his 30s and looked more smartly dressed. Both are black men.
“Our domestic told us this same thing happened to another domestic in the area sometime last year, with the exact same tactics. This means that they are regular operators at the same spot, doing the same thing to other people.
“Jeremy was quite shaken and incurred a cut to the ankle, but is otherwise fine. We took him to Mondeor Police Station, but they really weren’t very interested in taking a statement and said before they could take one we had to block the phone first. Their lack of interest is very disturbing.
“I have reported this to the CPF, TBRA and D&D Tactical security teams. We have many runners using the Biggarsberg hill and my advice is, please take care and probably it’s best not to carry any desirable items on your run,” Anthony added.
