CPF Sector 3 leads community awareness campaign to combat crime in Kibler Park

Law enforcement, and security firms launched a comprehensive crime awareness campaign to strengthens community safety.

The CPF Sector 3, JMPD, SAPS and security companies such as Fox Security, Protective Force, and War Security Company came together at Kibler Park for a critical crime awareness campaign on February 24.

The event aimed to foster community engagement, address concerns, and enhance cooperation with law enforcement to bolster security measures in the area.

Natasha Naude, from the CPF committee, said the overarching objective of the campaign was to mobilise residents into action, encouraging participation in neighbourhood patrols and fostering stronger ties with law enforcement agencies.

“By empowering the community to take an active role in crime prevention, we believe that Kibler Park can become safer and more secure for all its residents.

“Crime trends identified in the area include illegal mining, cable theft, drug-related issues among the youth, as well as house break-ins and hijackings along routes such as Kliprivier and R82. These issues pose significant threats to the well-being and safety of the community, necessitating a united front against criminal activities.”

Michael Hoy of Fox Security stressed the importance of community collaboration, urging residents to report suspicious activities promptly.

“If you see something, say something,” emphasised Hoy, highlighting the critical role of communication in crime prevention.

He emphasised the need for residents to work hand in hand with security companies and law enforcement to create a safer environment.

Ward 125 Clr Matsobane Sekhu underscored the ongoing efforts to address pressing issues, particularly the operations of illegal miners.

“Regular law enforcement operations targeting illegal mining activities have been initiated, with a commitment to maintaining consistent efforts to curb criminal behavior.

“I’d like to express gratitude for the support received from CPF, security companies, SAPS, JMPD, and other stakeholders in tackling crime in the area,” said Sekhu.

Looking ahead, the CPF Sector 3 plans to conduct similar awareness campaigns every second month, demonstrating a sustained commitment to combating crime and fostering community resilience.
