“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”- Aristotle
The one and only thing you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your experiences and your vision are all yours and yours alone. School teaches us about things and how they work. We reach the highest levels of academic studies just to know about the outside world without knowing much about the inner world.
Next time you see a group of people talking, take note what the conversation is about. I bet it is about things out there and other people, not themselves. This is unfortunately how we are socialised to think. Talking about yourself is taboo. How well do you know yourself? When you know yourself, you are empowered, and when you accept yourself, you are invincible.
Below is the journey I took to discover myself:
1. I studied people who were so good in their crafts and found myself attracted to some, like speaking, writing and giving advice to people. When you deliberately study people in different fields, at some point, something within you shifts. Your intuition, your divine knowing, just kicks in, and that’s when you just know that you are meant to do something. This is a deliberate and long process. Once you do this, you start connecting the dots and realising similar things you did that you didn’t notice you were even doing.
2. I found myself a coach and mentor. A coach is someone who will help you discover yourself by asking you relevant questions. A mentor, on the other hand, is someone who is well experienced in a specific field who helps you navigate it and guides you along the journey. The world has long been waiting for you, come out now!
