QueIsFit reflects on their achievements, sets new goals

The founder of QueIsFit intends to grow the organisation by co-operating with the Department of Arts and Culture to provide the youth with additional possibilities and establish new goals for the year.

Since a new year offers a fresh start, most people draft their resolutions to revisit them later in the year and monitor their levels of self-efficacy.

Sinqobile Zondi (25), the founder of QueIsFit, a monthly boot camp establishment, reflected on his main goals of establishing these monthly boot camps and set his new goals for 2024.

Through his boot camps, he hopes to empower and uplift the community by promoting health and providing opportunities for social interaction and engagement through various exercises.

He said his boot camp experiences have instilled in him the importance of giving back to the community in every way possible as this enables others to share their desires and accomplish their long-term objectives.

“We started organising these boot camps in 2022, and since we depended on a certain number of participants each month, it was not an easy year for me and my co-partner, Ripfumelo Mathye, to make it through. But with perseverance and consistency, we had the year turn out as we had intended,” the boot camp instructor said.

He said they planned to get more individuals involved, especially the youngsters. However, financial difficulties meant they did not pull in as many people as anticipated in 2022.

Nonetheless, 2023 was a different year for them because they achieved what they could not in 2022. This was an assurance that if you plan something and put in the effort, you will eventually reach your goals.

More than just a boot camp

“Our only hope is that people realise there is more to what we offer than just boot camps. It is also a chance for the neighbourhood to come together, socialise and learn the importance of eating healthily. Since children are the future, we want to include them as much as possible to prepare them now to take charge and become successful adults later on,” Zondi said.

Since late last year, the boot camp sessions have moved from Alberton Decathlon to The View Kibler Park, Plot 9011.

Several people have joined the monthly boot camps.

Participants in a boot camp engage in various physical activities, including shoulder rotations, boxing combinations, sprinter lunges, calf raises, hops, and squat jacks.

These are exercises involving resistance or strength training. They are an excellent way to increase strength and endurance and limit the risk of osteoporosis and other age-related illnesses.

“For this year, we have many plans, which include visibility to more people and developing new and exciting exercises for each individual’s growth. Most importantly, I thank our sponsors for always being available if we ask for help and for sponsoring us monthly,” he said.
