Glenanda Primary School's U12 boys crowned Discovery Knockout Cup champions

After winning every match in style, the soccer team claimed the Discovery Knockout Cup and brought pride to the school community.

Glenanda Primary School’s U12 boys’ football team has made history after completing an unbeaten run to win the prestigious Discovery Knockout Cup.

The young footballers impressed throughout the tournament with their skill, teamwork and determination, producing outstanding performances from the first match to the final.

Under the guidance of coach Fourie, the team showed excellent teamwork in every game. His careful preparation and commitment to developing the players were clear to see as the boys remained focused and composed under pressure.

The road to the title began with a convincing 5-1 victory over Eastleigh in the quarter-finals. They carried that momentum into the semi-finals, defeating Bryanston 2-0 to secure their place in the championship match.

In the final against Cliffview, the U12 side delivered their best performance of the tournament. They dominated from the opening whistle and raced into a 3-0 lead before half-time. The boys continued to control the match after the break, adding two more goals to complete an impressive 5-0 victory and lift the Discovery Knockout Cup in style.

While the team’s attacking football thrilled the spectators, its defence was equally impressive. Goalkeeper Christopher Steffen produced an outstanding performance, making several crucial saves to deny Cliffview any chance of scoring. His calmness, sharp reflexes and excellent shot-stopping earned him a deserved clean sheet and the Player of the Match award.

The team’s success was built on a balance of attacking flair and defensive strength, with every player making an important contribution throughout the competition.

Coach Jurie Fourie praised the players for their commitment and unity throughout the tournament.

“This team has worked incredibly hard all season. They trusted one another, played for each other, and showed great character in every match. I couldn’t be prouder of what they have achieved. Winning this trophy is a reward for their dedication and determination,” he said.

The victory is a proud moment for the school, the players, their families and supporters. By winning the Discovery Knockout Cup, the U12 boys have not only claimed a prestigious title but have also demonstrated the values of sportsmanship, perseverance and teamwork.

Glenanda Primary congratulates coach Fourie and the entire U12 squad on a memorable tournament victory. “Their achievement will inspire future generations of young footballers to work hard, support one another and strive for excellence both on and off the field,” said a school representative.
