Crèches training pays in practise
WENTWORTH crèches were recently treated to training and toys at a four-day course thanks to The Unlimited Child.

Nearly 950 children and their teachers will have direct access to kits containing items suited to children from the ages of 18 months to three years. Added to this, 11 crèches were given a kit containing toys for grade R pupils, including grade R blocks and trainer, Freda Wilkens taught them about the new pre-grade R programme.
A third kit, given to 18 crèches received a kit with 18 themes and activities covering a calendar year aimed at pre-grade R classes. Wentworth was the first area in SA to get these new kits. Resources, equipment and training to the value of R236,000 was sponsored by The Unlimited Child.
“The training was excellent. I have already started to implement the toys and teaching with the children. This is taking our crèche teaching and children to a whole new level,” said June Fynn from Happy Kids.
“The one requirement was that crèche supervisors need to commit their crèches to the effective daily use of the equipment and the mentor needs to weekly monitor the use of the equipment,” said Ian Corbishley, project manager from the educational projects link of The Unlimited Child.
The Wentworth Crèche Forum and Save the Children thank The Unlimited Child and fashion designer, Catherine Deane, who funded the learning materials for the training.
