Roadshow shows pupils they’re somebody

Bullying can often leave scars. “Even when children apologise for bullying, it does leave the victim with emotional scars.”

AN anti-bullying road show put together by Brighton Beach SAP communications officer, Captain Louise Le Roux, was launched on Friday, 7 February.

“The theme of the road show is ‘I am a somebody’ and it is aimed at teaching pupils techniques to cope with school bullying and ensure prompt reporting thereof,” said Cpt Le Roux. Pupils from grade R to 7 and staff were taught correct measures to deal with bullying.

Pupils were told to focus on their talents through the ‘I am a somebody’ dance. “Whether sporting or academic achievements or social skills, they must remember they have special gifts which no bully can take away from them.”

The road show will reach more than 4,000 pupils at 11 junior and senior primary schools within the Brighton Beach policing area.
