THE president of Natalia Garden Club opened the meeting with a prayer and welcomed all members present.
Also welcomed were visitors Barbara Disceur Hull, Yvonne Cameron and Audrey Grobbelaar.
Birthday wishes and gifts went to those who had birthdays in August.
The door and raffle prizes were supplied by Gwen Barnes and won by Marie Pistorius, Lyn Gradwell and Nollie Venter. Two hundred point prizes went to Nora Brown, Caroline Kotze and Lettie van Jaarsveld.
Betty McGeorge brought her bonsai tree to show, and spoke about how she had cultivated it. Desmond D’Sa, African winner of the 2014 Goldman environmental prize, gave a very interesting talk on the environment and the endeavours of the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance to curtail unhealthy operations and get people interested in conservation.

The next meeting is on 11 September at the Pigeon Club, Tara Road, at 9.30am. The team from Bluff Hobbies and Hardware will do a demonstration on how to enhance your garden with mosaic work.
