Good communication work between Wentworth and Brighton Beach police stations led to the arrest of a house burglar.
In July last year, a homeowner in Highbury Road, Bluff was robbed of property to the value of R30,000. Fingerprints were taken at the scene and the burglar’s identity was circulated.
While conducting investigations which led to the arrest of a man at his home , Captain Inggs from Montclair SAPS noticed the brother of the man looked like wanted the Highbury Road break in.
On Tuesday, 2 September, the morning of the man’s appearance in court for a bail application, Capt Inggs alerted Brighton Beach detective W/O Brad Varley that his brother will also be at a bail hearing. W/O Varley went to the Wentworth Court where he identified the suspect wanted in the Highbury Road burglary.
The 24-year-old man was charged with housebreaking and theft and appeared in the Durban Regional Court on Wednesday, 3 September. He was granted R3,000 bail.
Detective Warrant Officer Craig Inggs is commended for the vigilance he showed in identifying the wanted person and the prompt response in relaying the information on the whereabouts of the suspect.
“Brighton Beach SAPS management applauds the long standing partnership that exists between the Montclair and Brighton Beach detective services branches, which again resulted in the identifying, apprehension and arrest of a wanted person within the Brighton Beach policing area,” said Brighton Beach SAP communications office, Capt Louise Le Roux.
