Irked by city’s inability to fix park swings
Does the municipality not have carpenters who could cut six pieces of wood which could then be attached to the chains?
EDITOR – I have just been reading Cllr du Bois’ letter in the Southlands Sun dated 3 July, about the mayor’s profligate spending and I had to smile.
I wish His Worship would put some money the way of the ratepayers.
About three weeks ago I wrote to the parks department requesting that the children’s play equipment in Mitford Place be revamped as the swings were broken and there are numerous young children who live in Mitford Place who I’m sure would enjoy playing in the park, now that the holidays are upon us.
The reply I received was the items were due to be painted, which was done within a week, but that unfortunately there was no money to repair the swings. Really? Does the municipality not have carpenters who could cut six pieces of wood which could then be attached to the chains?
I find this very disheartening, given the sickening expenditure that we hear about all the time, including R400,000 on two funerals.
