Refinery donates food parcels to families
It would be greatly appreciated if the companies did step forward and help
SOME 250 families were given an early Christmas present, thanks to Engen which sponsored groceries worth more than R57,000.
Councillor Aubrey Snyman, who hosted the event at the Austerville community centre and also provided transport for the families, said this was a generous gesture by Engen. “On behalf of the community we thank Engen for the donation. This puts food on the table for those who have no money, especially around Christmas time. Many families in the community go to bed without eating,” said Snyman.
He challenged other companies in the area to do the same and make a difference in the community. “We need to elevate the community from the burdens that are prominent in many families, such as poverty, drugs, alcohol abuse and unemployment. It would be greatly appreciated if companies did step forward and help, ” he added. Christmas is about caring and loving each other and that is what Engen has proved they do care for their neighbours.”
Snyman wished everyone a happy festive season and a prosperous year and a special greeting to all Engen staff.
