Tyler claims ‘Tiny face’ title

CONFIDENT, stylishly dressed and always ready to strike a pose, the fitting winner of the title of Tiny Face of South Africa 2016 is the Bluff’s Tyler Van Deventer.

The five-year-old began his modelling career a mere seven months ago but has already claimed a national title.

“He was a very shy boy, so I decided to enrol him in modelling classes to help with his confidence,” said Tyler’s mother, Samantha Penny.

And help, it did. The youngster, who turns six next month, has a ready smile and eagerly talks about his love for stylish clothing and helping others.

“He loves helping people, that is why we enter him in competitions that have a charity aspect,” said Samantha.

With his new title of Tiny Face of South Africa, Tyler will be able to get involved in charity work and has started with My Crotcheted Goods, which makes crotcheted clothing for children and babies in need.

In the national competition in Pretoria in March, Tyler strutted his stuff on stage and walked away with numerous prizes, including among others, first prince for Mr Tiny South Africa and public choice face of South Africa.

“I teared-up when he won, it was a proud moment. Had chicken pox a few days before the competition and sinus problems during, but he didn’t give up. Tyler had amazing support from the community, his family, as well as his friends and school and that helped him achieve.”

The youngster, who enjoys swimming, running, rugby, fishing, fashion and dressing up as superheroes now plans on taking up singing and dancing.

“I like being on stage. I especially like all the dressing-up in modelling,” said Tyler, who hopes to be a swimmer and an astronaut when he grows up.
