ENSURE you know everything you need to before heading to the polls tomorrow to vote for your South Durban councillors and local government.
Voting for ward and PR councillors will happen from 7am to 7pm. Wards 32, 64, 66, 68 and 75 represent the suburbs in the South Durban Basin with a total of 110 candidates across the board.
Voters can only vote at the station they are registered at and if they have their ID with them. To check where you are registered call 0800-118-000, dial *120*432#, SMS your ID number to 32810 (at a cost of R1 per SMS) or go to www.elections.org.za for information. Those whose addresses don’t appear on the voters’ roll will need to fill in an address update form before they leave the voting station.
Social media enthusiasts are reminded you may share that you have voted but photos of ballot papers are not allowed. The IEC urges people to use the hashtags #ivoted and #2016Municipal Elections.
Voting stations for ward 32 are Baxter Park, Clairwood Boys Primary School, Durban Music School, Durban YMCA hall and Thekwini College Melbourne Campus.
Ward 64 has voting stations at St Raphael’s Special School, Montclair community hall, Montclair Senior Primary School, New Forest High School, Phambili High School, Willow Park Primary School, Yellowwood Park Civic Centre and Yellowwood Park Primary School.
In ward 66, Bushlands Primary School, Dirkie Uys Primary School, Durban Academy, Glenardle Junior Primary School, Grosvenor Girls High School, St Gerard’s Daycare and Transhaven Seaside Fund are the voting stations.
Austerville community hall, Fairvale Secondary School, Gardenia Primary School, Junagarth Road Primary School, ML Sultan St Mary’s Primary School, Nizam Road Primary School, Settlers Primary School, Wentworth Primary School and Wentworth Secondary School make up the voting stations for ward 68.
Ward 75 has stations at Entuthukweni Pre-Primary School, Ganges Secondary School, Jacobs Hostel, Lamontville community office and SJ Smith Hostel.
