A-plus AGM for YWP WI
Speakers that we have had during the past year more especially our fantastic Oscar birthday party which was really an “Oscar “ occasion.
YELLOWWOOD Park Women’s Institute (WI) president Sharon Quail opened the meeting with the WI prayer and greeted all members and visitors.
It was good to see so many members as it was the AGM.
The first speaker of the evening was Carla Noble from CANSA Durban. She had great advice for all members on how to look out for different forms of cancer and to always go for early testing. YWP WI has such amazing members that the WI was able to hand over at least 100 breast cushions for cancer sufferers. Carla also mentioned the amazing charity work that is available and urged all to once again seek help early.
After a delicious tea, it was on with the AGM. Executive member Maureen Lavis was there to help with the nominations, which was not difficult as the president, vice president, treasurer and secretary plus believe it or not all of the committee stood for re-election. Thank you so much to those members for their hard word and dedication to the incredible institute.
The president mentioned that one extra committee member would be required. The minutes of last year’s meeting were read plus the finance report and then the president’s report, listing all the interesting speakers during the past year, more especially the fantastic Oscar birthday party which was really an ‘Oscar’ occasion. Thank you letters were received from John Dunn House and WI’s own Evelyn House for YWP WI’s donations. Gifts were handed out to all members who go that extra mile at every meeting.
Social hostess Vanessa Wilesmith wished all those celebrating birthdays this month a happy day. Ideas were also taken from members for local charities that members wished to assist. Competitions were read out for the month of April and members were advised once again not to forget entries for the Royal Show, which is very important. Linda Melson gave some advice on the subject.
The evening ended with the WI prayer and a wish from the president to go well, take care and stay safe.
Vice president Robyn Murray then read out the competition results, with thanks for so many entries.
