Stainbank WI hosts Southern Hills AGM
It was great to have federation president Noleen Walker and vice federation president Girlie Dely as guests.
STAINBANK Women’s Institute (WI) was privileged to hold the Southern Hills AGM at its usual monthly meeting.
It was great to have federation president Noleen Walker and vice federation president Girlie Dely as guests.
Executive member Maureen Lavis introduced all the delegates and after the singing of Unity, the memorial candle was lit by the delegates from each WI, in memory of those who have died. Roll call was made and apologies given. Secretary Barbara Isley then read the minutes from the previous AGM and these were seconded.
The financial report was read by Connie Stringer, although new group treasurer will be Robyn Murray.
All the group executives’ reports were read and a judges’ liaison officer report was given by Linda Melson.
The federation president then read her report and gave out all the badges. Many thanks to all who have taken on a new position for the year, especially to Maureen Lavis who has agreed to remain as group executive for a further year. Many thanks to all wonderful judges who turn up at every meeting and give such good advice. Do try and enter the competitions which are set every month, you can learn so much from them and once again do introduce your friends to the WI. It is a great institution.

Gilly Pierce is the most amazing incredible woman. She absolutely refuses to be limited by her debilitating multiple sclerosis which has progressed so far that she can only move her head and neck but that does not stop her as she does the most amazing mouth painting to raise funds to supplement her very small social grant. She really is an inspiration to everyone as she managed to tell her story with the aid of her helper, Jackie Pollitt. Many WI members were able to purchase her cards, books marks and all sorts of extras. It was a privilege to have Gilly at the meeting.
Birthdays and raffles were then read out and some domestic notices by president Arlene Greenfield, before the meeting was then closed with the Mary Stewart Collect.

Highest points overall: First Deleen Laker (Yellowwood Park WI), second Jen Leeflang (Yellowwood Park WI), third Koulla Tsouris (Woodlands WI). Congratulations to Yellowwood Park WI as the overall winners.
