NPO makes positive changes with community projects

NON profit organisation, Game Changers held a successful Easter event on Saturday, 15 April on Hime Street, Wentworth.
The park where the event was held, was buzzing with excited children and parents who were also involved in the activities. Hot cross buns, Easter eggs and juice were handed out. Pastor Stan James said a prayer and songs of were sung.

Members of Game Changers spoke to the children about respect and encouraged them to look after their environment by cleaning the park.

“We had about 80 children joining us and the best part of the day was watching how excited the children got for their goodies,” said Game Changers vice-chairperson, Kerry-Anne Hughes.

Game Changers’ plans for communities within the Durban South area does not stop there as they have set goals for the organisation to reach.

“Our short term goal is to get funding for a safe house for drug addicts. We are also trying to get funding for a feeding scheme for one meal a day and lunches for kids. Our next project is in winter in Welbedacht, where we will be handing out blankets, warm clothing, meals and more. We are looking for sponsors to help with our initiatives,” said Hughes.

Last week, Game Changers was joined by RK Safety to give out cooldrinks and party packs to the children in Hime Street. “We are hoping to get the park in Hime Street revamped and made child friendly for them to use. We are all about uplifting the communities and spreading a message of faith and positive change,” she added.
