Wanted suspect rearrested after escaping from hospital in January

The man fell ill in the Brighton Beach holding cells and escaped after he was taken to Wentworth Hospital.

A WANTED suspect who had been evading police for the past six months was re-arrested in Isipingo on August 20.

The suspect was wanted in connection with a carjacking case that occurred in Montclair in January. He was initially arrested in January and transferred to Brighton Beach police station.

According to Sergeant Bhekumuzi Dlamini of Montclair police station, the suspect fell ill while being held in the Brighton Beach holding cells.

“He was taken to Wentworth Hospital for medical examination. Upon his arrival at the health facility in January, he managed to escape.

“Police launched an investigation into his escape. Through an informant, he was re-arrested in Isipingo. He will be appearing in court soon,” said Dlamini.
