Help create fairty-tale ending for talented Cinder-Ella cast

New Forest High will put on a musical production called Cinder-Ella, however the highly committed cast need assistance with their costumes and make-up.

Producers and teachers, Ms Wilson, Ms Bruce and Ms Royeppen and their pupils will be captivating their audience on 31 May and 1 June.

The tale of an orphaned girl who goes through hardships in life and finally finds true happiness resonates with many of the cast members, who have dealt with similar challenges but still manage to smile through the pain. “This play is relevant to my pupils, as many come from disadvantaged and sometimes unfair backgrounds. I admired how these children never let anything get in the way of their craft. Not one rehearsal has been missed. They’ve been punctual, dedicated and committed to turning this play into something so special. Right now the roles are a secret so when the audience arrives, they are unaware of who is Cinderella or Prince Charming, ” said co-producer, Ms Bruce.

While the rehearsals are going well, finding costumes and a make-up artist to work on a voluntary basis is challenging. So far the girls have dresses for the ballroom scene but will need 50 more dresses for other scenes. The boys need 10 suits and Prince Charming is lacking a stand-out suit. “Most of the children have financial challenges so it’s not feasible to ask them to buy dresses and suits. We are reaching out to the community to help us with dresses, be it wedding or matric/prom dresses and suits to dress the guys. We also need a make-up artist to help on our performance nights.

This play is something for the children to work towards and help them build confidence and friendships as they meet everyday. “We invite the community to support the play and witness the magic on 31 May and 1 June. You will surely not regret it,” said Ms Bruce.
