Municipality to install 165 static water tanks
The municipality hopes to improve access to water.
IN a bid to tackle the water crisis in KZN, eThekwini Municipality will install water tanks to supply water to affected areas.
It was decided at an executive committee meeting that 165 static tanks would be placed by the eThekwini Water and Sanitation (EWS) Unit at predetermined sites.
A statement from the executive committee read, “While eThekwini expects above average rainfall, the drought could continue for at least another 12 months. Even if good rains are received before the next dry season, they may not be sufficient to fill the water supply dams to high enough levels to see the city through until the following rain season (summer 2017/18).”
