A BIG welcome was extended to all by Stainbank Women’s Institute (SWI) president Arlene Greenfield at the Christmas party and last meeting of the year.
It was good to see so many members from other institutes and to receive their good wishes.
After the WI prayer, the president thanked everyone for their hard work and assistance during the year and particularly for the Christmas decorations and floral arrangements. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and signed. Greetings were given to all those celebrating birthdays during December and January, as SWI does not meet again until February. Well wishes were also extended to those celebrating anniversaries, which includes quite a number of members over the 50-year mark. Congratulations to all. Then it was time for the delicious snacks provided by members – and there was so much to choose from. An extra special thank you to George Greenfield for filming the occasion and for designing the programme.
After tea it was time for the special Stainbank karaoke queens namely president Arlene Greenfield and vice president Linda Hewer with assistance from Lynne Graham.
What a show this trio put on – they must have practised for hours. All the songs were well known, and ones which members could sing along to, which they did. It was great fun. The meeting ended with Christmas wishes being extended to all members from the president and a reminder to be safe, and the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
SWI hopes to see every member in February 2018.
