Clean-up tackles illegal dumping in Clairwood
Residents are urged to take responsibility for their waste by using municipal collection services and designated disposal facilities.
WASTE management teams removed a large amount of illegally dumped waste from Maharaj Road in Clairwood on September 30.
The clean-up was part of efforts to improve cleanliness and restore the area for residents, businesses and other members of the community.

The clean-up helped to clear waste that had accumulated along the road, improving the appearance of the area and creating a cleaner public space.
According to eThekwini Municipality, illegal dumping remains a concern in communities across eThekwini with discarded household waste, building rubble and other materials often left in open spaces along roadsides and on vacant land.
Residents and businesses are urged to take responsibility for their waste by using the appropriate municipal collection services and designated disposal facilities.

The residents are also encouraged not to dump waste on roadsides, pavements, vacant properties or other public spaces.
Illegal dumping can have a negative impact on the environment and the quality of life of people living and working in affected areas.
Accumulated waste can also create unpleasant conditions and contribute to blocked stormwater systems and other problems.
