Wentworth author honoured with fourth literary award

"I cannot believe all the good things that have come my way as a writer." - Author, Cyril James.

WENTWORTH wordsmith and author Cyril James, received his fourth literary award at the Durban Book Fair at Mitchell Park in Durban earlier this month.

To his surprise, Cyril was notified that he had been awarded the Feather Quill Award for meritorious contribution to literature, art or culture. “I had no idea that my work had been up for an award so you can imagine how delighted I must have been. It honestly feels great, as a young boy who had a tough upbringing and didn’t get to finish school, I could have never imagined that I would be receiving my fourth award for my work as a writer and published author. I cannot believe all the good things that have come my way as a writer,” said the self-published author with four books to his name to date.

His other accomplishments include a Microsoft Office Application certificate, an award from the Wentworth Community Upliftment project as well as an award from the Minara Chamber of Commerce as a highly commended author. Cyril’s career as an author has also seen him involved in a number of literary opportunities from exhibitions, book launches, radio interviews, documentaries as well as the 2019 Time of the Writer Festival which he described as a riveting experience.
