Development bowls take off at Wentworth Bowling Club
Wentworth Bowling Club’s promotion and development bowls on Wednesday afternoon, 18 September, welcomed almost 30 bowlers to the green.

Trystan Lassak, Orri Harripersad, Vee Husiath and Ruth Petzer were the winners on the day. Margaret Walters donated a stylish handbag with matching make-up purse for a raffle to raise the funds required to keep giving prizes to the development bowlers. This was won by Belinda Tarby.
Friday’s Tomasina’s men’s casual bowls saw Jorge Santos, Colin Howes and Gavin Conlon accumulate a plus 18 to take a four shot lead over Dudley Dorrofield, Hennie Blom and Ashley Sherratt. Graham Bransby, Godfrey Addinall and Wayne Booysen took home the weekly sportsmen’s prize.
The club greens were put to good use this weekend as the competition secretaries upped the pace on club competitions. The women’s veteran and points singles and two mixed competitions – the Roley Taylor pairs and the Grace Hare trips – are currently in progress. Members must be alert for postings of their involvement in these competitions.
On Sunday morning, 22 September, the men’s Doug Mitchell singles final was contested between Kearan Lassak and Godfrey Addinall.
In an epic match it was young Kearan, quickly making a name for himself as a singles bowler, who edged out his opposition and reached the elusive 21 shots first to take the title.
Wentworth’s Troy Garland is currently in Gauteng representing Port Natal in the U30 Bowls South Africa inter-district tournament. His side had three wins from three encounters on Sunday (the first day of play).
The other side had two wins from their three games. Wentworth Bowling Club looks forward to their continued success.
