Powerful message shared at the next SA Writers’ Circle meeting

The South African Writers’ Circle

The South African Writers’ Circle, a non-profit nationwide organisation that exists solely for the benefit of writers, both published and beginner hosts a general meeting on Saturday, 16 November, to be held in the meetings room, G4 below the Westville Library, at noon.

The guest speaker will be Dr Gcina Mhlophe who is an author, poet, playwright, director, performer and storyteller. Her topic will be ‘My Story, My Power’. A workshop will not be held on this day so as to give members a longer lunch break and an opportunity to interact with Gcina as well as with each other. Members and non-members will enjoy an alfresco lunch in the garden alongside the meetings room.

Admission fees are R10 for SAWC members and non-members pay R20. Guests and members need to bring a plate of snacks to contribute towards lunch. For further information, visit sawriters.org.za/about/ or call Sylvia Garib on 076-154-4621.

Dr Mhlophe’s birthday (24 October) is recognised as National Storytelling Day celebrated all over South Africa.
