Edgy talk show inspires youth at newly launched radio station

In the Scope with Daryl Williams is an investigative talk show that singles out individuals who are winning at something, which could be anything that they do.

THE newly launched Radio of Colour is unlike any conventional radio station.

Even though it is still in its infancy, the channel is hitting the right waves and gaining exactly the right momentum. The brainchild of a household name in comedy circles, Carvin H Goldstone, the station is challenging traditional radio in many ways.

“We are changing the way radio is done currently and changing the notion of ‘we talk, you listen’ to a 100 per cent interactive show, on every show,” said Daryl.

Featuring some of the country’s most noted personalities, such as the likes of The Wiz, DJ Craigy G and DJ Sanks, Daryl said the channel, currently streamed and broadcast live via Facebook, has something in store for everyone.

“We have established DJs ranging from corporate, festival, club to recording. We also have radio personalities and most importantly, the best fan base ever. They support the station religiously and so, equally, we find new ways to develop and get better on every broadcast – we owe it to them,” said the funny man from Wentworth.

His slot is called In the Scope with Daryl Williams, a show he describes as a cutting-edge talk show with investigative elements that keep in the listener engaged from the first word right to the last.

“Keeping in line with Youth Month and the culture of the station, our focus is not only idolise artists and sports stars, but we interview and commemorate real people too.”

“Recently, I hosted a ground-breaking interview with its sole purpose of inspiring our youth to reach for their dreams and not get tied down with an occupation because of monetary gains.”

“We interviewed Isaac Mbatha from Newlands East, who was featured on Forbes Magazine’s Top 10 most influential entrepreneurs under 30,” he said.

Others featured on the show include Marlon Pretorius, founder of the sneaker laundry and customisations franchise called KrispyKickz.

At just four-months-old, the channel with humble beginnings, is taking its first steps with an online domain already created and sights set on securing office space.

“Some of us started off conducting our segments on just our mobile phones in the beginning. The migration will not take place anytime soon until we are able to build a sustainable and state-of-the-art platform that can cater for the culture of the station.”

Asked why radio, he said, “Because radio is life. We have seen technology come and go. We have seen vinyl move to CD and now to flash drive, but radio will always remain. It is timeless, even at the collapse of the world as we know it, we will always have the radio waves.”
