BREAKING NEWS: KZN DOE appoints new acting principal at Grosvenor Girls’
The contracts of the employees who were found guilty of fraudulently being employed are being reviewed.
WHILE the South African Council of Educators (SACE) has agreed to assist with social-cohesion programmes aimed at assisting in restoring order and peace at Grosvenor Girls’ High School, the KZN Department of Education has announced the appointment of a new acting principal.

Spokesperson for the Department of Education, Muzi Mahlambi, said, “The Department of Education has appointed Mrs Fredericks as the acting principal. She has assumed her duties. The appointment of Fredericks stems from the suspension of the school’s deputy principal and principal. The principal of Durban Girls’ High School has been requested to assist with implementing the financial systems for two months. The contracts of the SGB (school governing body) employees who were found guilty of fraudulently being employed are being reviewed,” added Mahlambi.

Principal of the school Linda Jorgensen was suspended following a protest by pupils that sparked a probe into allegations of racism, financial mismanagement and nepotism at the school in March.
Jorgensen’s deputy, who filled the position as acting principal since Jorgensen’s suspension, was suspended after the probe implicated her in the allegations.

According to Mahlambi, other recommendations are a work in progress.
