The celebratory event took place in the bowling hall of the Woodlands Sports Club, which was transformed with vibrant decorations reflecting the imaginative theme.

Wendy Henderson, vice president of the institute, expressed her delight at the event, saying, “It was our 56th birthday party with the theme being Mad Hatters Tea Party.”

Entertainment was provided by Marion Loudon, whose lively performance set the tone for a joyful afternoon. Some of the members even joined in, dancing along to her tunes. As part of the festivities, prizes for the competitions held throughout the year were handed out, and several members received their annual badges.

Wendy Henderson was notably recognised with her 55-year badge, a testament to her long-standing dedication to the institute.

Linda Melson, who served as the judge for various competitions, was thanked for her contributions and gifted a hanging basket as a token of appreciation. A special highlight of the day was the presentation of the President’s Award to Barbara Kruger, celebrating her enthusiasm and keen involvement as a new member.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Henderson added, “The atmosphere was great with lots of laughter. Everyone wore hats according to the theme. There were some very clever ideas.”
