Despite numerous attempts to resuscitate the toddler, who was found floating in the pool by neighbours, the child unfortunately passed away.

TRAGEDY struck as a two-year-old boy drowned in a residential pool on Admiral Road, The Bluff, yesterday evening (November 29). The child was declared dead  shortly after admission to hospital, despite all resuscitation efforts from paramedics and hospital staff.

Garrith Jamieson, ALS Paramedics spokesperson, said paramedics were notified of the incident shortly after 19:30. When paramedics arrived, they met a vehicle about to rush the unresponsive toddler to the hospital. Paramedics immediately interceded and initiated advanced resuscitation efforts on-scene.

“The toddler was apparently found floating in a residential pool. Neighbours assisted in pulling him out of the water but he showed no signs of life,” said Jamieson. ALS Paramedics took the child to a nearby hospital where attempts at resuscitation were continued. Unfortunately, all efforts by paramedics and medical personnel could not save him.

The exact circumstances around the drowning incident are not known yet. Members of the Brighton Beach police station were in attendance at the scene and are investigating.

This is the third tragic drowning incident in the past week and second incident of this nature to take place in a pool. The passing away of the toddler underscores the importance of pool and water safety and the need for vigilance when small children are around.
