This year has been a trying year with service delivery throughout eThekwini continuing to deteriorate. It has been a constant battle to get the most basic services for our community.

But as the year comes to an end it is a time to be positive so I would like to wish all residents a Merry Christmas and wish everyone all the very best for the new year. In 2025 I will continue the fight for the rights of our residents.

I also want to send a special message out to all our 2024 matriculants. It is a stressful time waiting for your results. Just remember that when you get your results, even if it is not what you were working towards, it is not the end of the world. There are always options.

Ward 66: Zoë Solomon

Ward 66 councillor, Zoë Solomon.

My holiday message for all residents is a safe and peaceful break over the festive period with valuable downtime and treasured family time.

May your celebrations be filled with joy and beautiful memories and may you feel truly rested when we return to our work lives in January 2025.

To those who are feeling less than celebratory I really wish people into your life at this time who lift your spirits and welcome you into new friendships.

Reach out, I encourage you. As the year draws to a close let us practise kindness in all of our affairs.

This year was a very difficult year for most of us with the high unemployment rate and with high increases in our rates and taxes that made it very difficult for people to pay their bills let alone put food on the table and with the poor service delivery it just compounded our problems.

With that being said, we need to remain optimistic and look on the bright side of life and give thanks to the Almighty for giving us life and hope in the future for change for the best.

I wish to take this opportunity in wishing all of you a happy festive season and a prosperous New Year. Please don’t drink and drive.
