Coedmore Bridge’s pour date was moved and has now been confirmed for January 22. Residents are urged to add delays to their travel routes.
THE pour of concrete for Coedmore Bridge, that was expected to be done on Monday (January 20), has been rescheduled for Wednesday (January 22).

Nolwandle Gcaba, community liaison officer for wards 64 and 65, said the next concrete pour, scheduled for earlier in the week, is now confirmed for Wednesday (January 22).
“The delay was caused by pre-stressing strands not going through to the other side,” said Gcaba.
Gcaba said that Afrisam has confirmed involvement in the project, confirming that both of its plants are on board for the supply of concrete required during the construction process of Coedmore Bridge.
The councillor’s office is also advising homeowners and motorists who travel in the area to be prepared to add additional travel time to their routes. Gcaba said the pour is expected be a 13-hour process.
“Please expect traffic delays during peak hour in the late afternoon as the trucks are expected to start coming in from 15:00 to 16:00. We apologise in advance for any noise inconvenience that may affect the homes on Old Mill,” said Gcaba.
Coedmore Bridge, badly damaged during the 2022 floods, has subjected residents of wards 64 and 65 to 45-minute detours while it remains closed.
The eThekwini Municipality has allocated R48 million for the rehabilitation of the two-lane, 90m bridge, which will include pedestrian walkways. Funding for the project has been sourced from the National Treasury’s Municipal Disaster Response Grant.
