Blue Bundu Brigade calls on community to have a heart for Sarah

Blue Bundu Brigade is urging the community to join in their Valentine’s give-away to raise funds for Sarah who was injured in a dog fight.

ANIMAL rescue non-profit organisation, Blue Bundu Brigade, has launched a Valentine’s fundraiser in aid of Sarah, a five-year-old rescue dog who sustained critical injuries during a dog fight.

Karen Janisch, one of the directors at Blue Bundu Brigade, said Sarah and her sister, Eva, were left in a box and abandoned in a park to fend for themselves. The dogs were found when they were just eight weeks old. She said that no one has stepped up to adopt these two little girls yet, and they continue to reside within this rescue organisation.

Janisch said that Sarah was badly bitten during a dogfight on January 28 and had to be rushed to the vet.

“Sarah was stabilised, put on an IV drip, given medication for pain, antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, and her wounds were cleaned and irrigated,” she said.

Janisch added that following their initial appointment at the vet, Sarah had to go for surgery and have her wounds sutured.

“The surgery was long. We visited her in the evening and got a tail wag when talking. Her paws were so cold which choked us to tears. She wouldn’t eat and Sarah loves her food. We sat and spoke encouraging words of love. We miss our sweet girl and hope and pray she continues to fight during this difficult time,” she said.

To cover the costly medical bills, Blue Bundu Brigade is hosting a Valentine’s basket fundraiser.

For R20 per ticket, supporters stand a chance to win a beautifully curated Valentine’s hamper, which includes:
