Animal lovers and bike enthusiasts got together for some puppy cuddles, a vibrant atmosphere, all with the sole aim to help animals in need.

Karen Janisch, one of the directors at Blue Bundu Brigade, said, “The day allowed attendees to meet our puppies for some puppy love, cuddles, kisses, and tail wags.”  She added that some of the rescues were up for adoption, but attendees were only able to fill out adoption forms and reserve certain puppies as they follow a strict adoption process.

Various items were sold to raise much-needed funds for their continued care. Janisch said the event was well attended and a great atmosphere was created.

The organisation was hit with a huge vet bill amounting to R80 000 making all the recent fundraising extremely crucial to the organisation’s survival.  Janisch said fortunately their vet offered to write off half the debt if they could raise R40 000 leaving them with a goal of R32 000 that needed to be reached by November 30.

As a non-profit organisation, Blue Bundu Brigade relies substantially on public support and the team often works toward taking care of the expenses themselves when possible. “Supporting us would help us meet our target and clear the outstanding vet bill, giving us a clean slate for 2025,” Janisch added.
