Construction of Coedmore Bridge not affected by the heavy rain

Community liaison officer for ward 64, Nolwandle Gcaba, assures the public that the heavy rains did not affect the rebuilding of the bridge

THE construction of Coedmore Bridge has not been affected by the recent heavy rains filling up the river, as it is now freestanding.

The community liaison officer for ward 64 and 65, Nolwandle Gcaba, said the bridge still has an expected completion date of the end of May.

“Some of the staging has been moved by the water but our bridge is perfectly fine. We urge all community members to please not share false information,” said Gcaba.

EThekwini Municipality has allocated R48 million for the rehabilitation of the two-lane, 90m bridge, which will include pedestrian walkways. Funding for the project has been sourced from the National Treasury’s Municipal Disaster Response Grant.
