Home Affairs extends trading hours for school holidays

With school children on holiday, many parents will be rushing to help their children get their smart IDs for their examinations.

THE Department of Home Affairs has decided to extend its office hours during the school holiday period, providing South Africans with additional opportunities to apply for and collect Smart ID cards. From March 30 to April 7, excluding public holidays, the Home Affairs offices will be open from 16:00-18:00.

  • A death certificate or certified copy, if your parents are dead
  • Proof of where you live (if you have it) or your address
