Puppies saved from Clairwood scrapyard blaze

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control and placed the rescued puppies into a place of safety.

SIX puppies have been rescued from a burning scrapyard in Clairwood on June 4 after a fire broke out and quickly spread throughout the property.

Several cars stored at the site were damaged. Thick black smoke could be seen rising into the sky as flames tore through piles of scrap metal and old vehicles.

As firefighters worked to contain the blaze rescuers carefully searched the area and discovered six puppies trapped close to the flames.

According to eyewitnesses firefighters worked frantically to contain the blaze. The rescued puppies were handed to officials of the SPCA.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
