Montclair crackdown nets 11 illegal foreign nationals

The recent operation follows previous crackdown during which 13 suspects were arrested and charged with contravening immigration acts.

ELEVEN illegal foreigners were arrested during a police sting operation conducted in the Montclair policing precinct on June 10.

The recent police operation follows previous crackdowns in the area during which 13 foreign nationals were arrested and charged with contravening immigration acts.

The operation was carried out by members of the Montclair, Brighton Beach and Wentworth police stations, working alongside metro police.

The police said the initiative formed part of ongoing operations aimed at identifying and arresting individuals who are residing in the country unlawfully.

Police teams began the operation in the vicinity of Montclair Mall, where several suspects were initially detailed after officers conducted routine inspections and verification of identification documents.

The operation then moved to South Coast Road where additional suspects were arrested following further checks by law enforcement officers.

Metro police spokesperson, Colonel Boysie Zungu confirmed that the suspects were charged with contravening the Immigration Act and were processed at Montclair police station before being prepared for court appearances.

However, the police have not yet released the nationalities of the suspects.

Police said such operations would continue as part of a broader crime prevention and immigration enforcement initiatives across eThekwini.
