Fairvale Secondary talent shines bright

From dancers to singers to poets, the Fairvale Secondary School talent show had 30 acts that showcased their star potential.

LEARNERS at Fairvale Secondary School showed the rest of the school and the community a different side when the school held a talent show recently. The show was created to give the learners a platform to showcase their creative sides and their hidden talents.

Shaune Lamalette, teacher at the school, said the show was inspired by a group of Grade Nine girls who wanted to do something different at the school.

“They wanted to showcase a different side of the children at Fairvale, one that is not only academics,” she said.

Around 30 acts, from dancers to singers to poets, took to the Fairvale talent show stage. The people leading the ultimate test of judging the acts were guest judges Taariq Stokes, Gerard Smith and Fairvale Secondary teacher Sharen Naidoo.

The winners were announced through three different awards, performance of the day, star potential and audience favourite. Performance of the day was awarded to Esther Jacobs; star potential went to Zainub Dlamini; and audience favourite was Jordan Essop.

Lamalette said the talent show was a great success in bringing the community together and showcasing how much talent Wentworth children possess. She extended her thanks to everyone who helped play a hand in making the day successful.
