Key features include:

  • Faster customer validation – allowing customers to authenticate using a meter number, connection number, or account number instead of providing a physical address
  • An improved chatbot interface with a more intuitive layout designed to enhance user interaction
  • Quicker service turnaround for logging faults and service requests
  • Live outage tracking for logged faults, integrated with the Directorate’s online outage portal.

Customers are encouraged to save the new WhatsApp number, and start using it to access electricity-related services more efficiently.

“This development forms part of the Energy Management Directorate’s flagship digitisation programme, aligned with its broader reform strategy to improve service delivery and enhance customer satisfaction,” said eThekwini in a statement.
