The investigating officer, Sergeant Bhekumuzi Dlamini, said Boy and his associates threatened the courier driver and demanded valuables before making off with his property. The victim (59) was not injured during the robbery.

“They took his cellphones and the boxes with the items he was delivering. The suspects then fled the scene, leaving the victim in shock. The police were alerted of the incident. We received leads that led us to Lamontville. The intelligence-driven operation led the police to a residence in Lamontville where the accused and his friends were found in the car. The other suspects managed to escape, however, the accused was arrested and charged for armed robbery. He had been attending court until his sentencing recently,” said Dlamini.

Dlamini said the recent conviction will send a clear message to criminals that the Montclair police have taken a zero tolerance on crime.

“The station is pleased with the recent conviction as it reflects hard work and dedication of the police officers at Montclair police station,” Dlamini added.
