Lucky Lucy is looking for a loving home
She was found in a drain at just a few months old.
LUCY, who was found abandoned in a drain has been given a second chance at life, and to bring joy to a family who is willing to give her a forever home.
Tanya Fleischer, the marketing manager at the Durban & Coast SPCA, said, Lucy, who is an Africanus X and about a year old, was found in Umlazi on July 13.
“She was rescued after we received a call from a member of the community. We suspect that someone had deliberately thrown her down the drain, and left her to die of cold and hunger.
“What was more devastating was another dog was found hanged not far from where Lucy was found, It seems that the two cases are linked. Our hearts broke for the hanged dog. It is awful to think how he must have struggled helplessly to escape the noose, as he slowly choked to death,” she said.

Fleischer said Lucy, who was rescued by Inspector Lucas Moloi, was initially very nervous and thin.
“We have spent the last few months talking to her with soothing words and gentle hands. She had also been put on a special diet to help her grow into a healthy young dog. We are glad to see that she has regained her health and confidence. She is playful, happy, and loves running around.
“However, we haven’t been able to find her a special new home yet, with loving, caring people who will never hurt her again. We are asking readers to please help us find her a home and give her a second chance,” she said.
