Community urged to donate water to St Monica’s Children’s Home

The non-profit home situated in Treasure Beach currently has 82 children and 15 staff members.

ST Monica’s Children’s Home is urgently appealing to the community to assist with water donations.
The home is currently without water and has been since Monday night.
The non-profit, non-government home, situated in Treasure Beach, currently has 82 children and 15 staff members.
Althea Govender, the director of the home, said they were informed that the reservoir that currently supplies the area does not have enough water.
“This poses a major challenge for us, and we don’t know how long it is going to last. We were also not given a warning so we could at least try to collect water in advance. All of our children are school-going, so how are they supposed to bath in the mornings? We also don’t have enough drinking water for almost 100 people at the home.
“The children’s clothes also cannot be washed as we cannot run the washing machines. If there is anyone that can assist us with water, as well to wash their clothes, especially school uniforms, it would be highly appreciated,” she said.
If you would like to assist, contact the home on 031 468 8656.
