Wentworth author shares stories of inspirational women in latest book
Lorraine Richards will be launching her non-fiction book, Women of Inspiration, at the Durban International Book Fair, at The Globe, Suncoast on August 9, from 18:00 to 19:00.
INSPIRED by journeys experienced by women from all walks of life, Wentworth author, Lorraine Richards, is hoping to empower others through their stories shared in her latest book.
Richards, 64, will be launching her non-fiction book, Women of Inspiration, at the Durban International Book Fair, at The Globe, Suncoast on August 9, from 18:00 to 19:00.

The fair is set to take place from August 9 to 13.
Richards, a literary editor, a creative writer, and a freelance journalist said the book encapsulates the stories of women who have had various life experiences.
“The women who have shared their life journeys’ in the book range from professionals, academics, philanthropists, housewives, community activists, and even a Constitutional Court judge. They are all amazing women, who have impacted society in their own special way.

“Some of them have experienced gender-based violence, sexual abuse, alienation, sexism, gender inequality and racism, but have emerged worn and covered with scars, bearing the insignia of their personal battles victoriously. Figuratively, they are ancient goddesses incarnate, who have returned to heal mother earth,” she said.
Richards, who is also a veterinary technician, said through each of the contributors’ stories, the book speaks of various topics. She said these include philanthropy, charity, self-sacrifice, selflessness, destiny, generosity, inner strength, forgiveness, responsibility, intuition, the strength of character, and learning to say ‘no’, among others.
“The book will hopefully inspire readers to develop a more positive mindset and outlook, to be motivated, to reframe their mind to seek happiness and success, as well unlock their spiritual creativity and increase mental productivity.
“I hope that after reading about women who had similar experiences or circumstances and how they overcame the challenges, it will also help a female or even male reader to regain confidence and self-esteem,” she said.
Richards said she was honoured to have interviewed powerful women in society.
“I hope that my literary mind was able to justly interpret their stories. I know that their stories will be cathartic to every woman and many men.”
The book will be available for purchase at the fair and from Richards. She can be contacted at lorrainerichards35@gmail.com.
