Investigation underway after cops involved in ‘reck and neck’
Police are appealing to eyewitness to come forward with information.
DETECTIVES, who are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving after three police officers travelling in a marked police vehicle crashed into a vehicle on July 26, need witnesses to contact them.
Reports indicate that the three police officers, believed to be from Mariannhill police station, were attending a sports day at the Fynnlands Soccer Grounds and while returning to the grounds, were involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle.

According to sources, video footage show that the officers had a large amount of alcohol in the vehicle, which had been removed before police from the area arrived at the scene.
“It appears that the officers had taken the bend at the intersection at Lighthouse and Tara roads very wide. They collided with a person travelling south, near the Bluff Meat Supply,” said the source.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, said paramedics responded to the accident and transported two police officers, who were seriously injured, to hospital.
The police officers have been identified and names are known to police, however, no individuals have been charged yet because the case is under investigation.
Police are appealing to eyewitness to come forward with information. Anyone with information or input regarding the investigation can contact Captain Brad Varley on 073 677 7075.
