Jaele’, who is part of The Black Sea Majorettes and a coach, said she competed in the Seniors Category and that they scooped overall first place for the Small Drill and Mace group.
“I feel grateful to have had this great opportunity to compete overseas and represent my country. I am also proud of our achievement. I would like to encourage other girls to get involved with majorettes because it is an amazing sport, which teaches discipline, team-building, self-confidence and how to love your peers,” she said.
Casey, who is part of the Durban Girls’ High School Majorettes, and Ryleigh, who is part of the Grosvenor Girls’ High School Majorettes, were part of a trio who won first place for Mace Group and Small Drill.
Casey said she was proud of her team and grateful to everyone who made the opportunity possible.

“I also feel very honoured to have represented my country on an international stage. The competition was tough, and the international participants loved our SA spirit and vibe which made me very proud of our country. This sport has taught me to be resilient and to persevere even when the going is tough. I will never forget this experience,” she said.
Ryleigh said, “I’m still in shock with this whole experience, however, I am very proud that I could get this opportunity to represent my country because a lot of people don’t get opportunities like this at a young age,” she said.
Maddison Acacia, who is part of the Durban Girls’ High School Majorettes, said she was chosen to march as a sub-leader for small drill and was selected for the mace group category.
“I feel really honoured to have been chosen to take part in something as huge as that, surrounded by such a skilled group of people. I learnt a lot and am incredibly grateful for the opportunity that was given to me.”
Taryn Dressing, chairperson of the KwaZulu-Natal Majorette and Cheerleading Association (KZNMCA), congratulated the KZN majorettes. “I hope the achievements of these athletes will inspire those around them to realise that achieving your dreams and ambitions can become a reality if you try.”
