New chapter in Grosvenor Girls’ High School’s leadership
With a new principal and deputy principal at the helm, the school is bound to prosper.

NEWLY elected principal of Grosvenor Girls’ High School Yolisa Mdleleni is poised to bring transformative changes while honouring the legacy of her mentors.
With years of experience garnered from various educational roles, including her recent tenure as acting principal since last year, Mdleleni aims to leverage her expertise in educational leadership, drawn from her role as deputy principal at Brettonwood High School in Durban, to empower the learners of Grosvenor Girls’ High School.

“The school is already well-known for its culture and character. The school will continue to be governed and run by good policies, just like how my mentors and predecessors did. The only change I would bring is centred around creating a safe sisterhood for the girls at the school, whereby we can support one another instead of bringing each other down like society often depicts,” said Mdleleni.
Her dedication to teaching remains unwavering as she continues to teach Grade 11 and matric learners in mathematics, a passion she aims to perpetuate throughout her term. Mdleleni’s vision for the school includes infrastructural enhancements, curriculum modernisation and diversified co-curricular activities.
“Infrastructure, curriculum and co-curricular activities are my main focal points for change. I would love to replace and renovate certain aspects of the school’s building that have, over the years, deteriorated, and in terms of the curriculum, I want to modernise it to accommodate the 21st century, like introducing subjects like information technology, and I would also like for us to get involved in more diverse sports once we appoint a new sports director,” said Mdleleni.
Assisting Mdleleni in her mission is Philip Mahlobo, the newly appointed deputy principal, who brings his extensive experience in educational management and teaching from Hlahlindlela High School in KwaNqetho. Mahlobo said, “Grosvenor Girls’ High School is a new environment for me, but with the help of Mdleleni, as well as my years of experience, I will be able to adapt. I am excited to work alongside Mdleleni to ensure we provide the best experience for the learners and teachers as well as become the school of choice for the community.”
Together, Mdleleni and Mahlobo usher in a new era for Grosvenor Girls’ High School, driven by innovation, inclusivity and academic excellence.
